Well carved head of a dog(appears to be some sort of hound), with glass eyes, a miniature leather collar with buckle, dark and light finish to emphasize features, a ferrule which appears to be bone and a shaft of a fairly dense light colored wood that looks like straight grained maple. A stylish early 20th century man's fashion statement, in excellent condition and sturdy enough for everyday use, 34" Long, head is 2-1/2" from snout to back of head. Hessian Soldiers including VERY RARE set of matching fire tools, cast iron with what appears to be original paint decoration in very good condition. The best-known pattern of early 19th century cast andirons is that of Hessian Soldiers. It is believed that they were inspired by the dislike of the mercenary troops brought here by the British in the American Revolution. Hence, they were being burned in effigy. American, circa 1900.
