Rare American shelf clock, 8 day time and strike movement, Brewster and Ingraham, "Sharp Gothic" Steeple design, with original paper label, old key marked "Ingraham & Co. Bristol, Conn., Mahogany veneer case on pine secondary wood, original wheel etched glass tablet, original face, old, probably original glass, old but non-original hands that were in place when acquired, 20 1/4"H. X 9 3/4"W. X4 1/4" D. Brewster and Ingraham began in 1844 and ended in 1852 when it became E. & A. Ingraham Co. They were the first clockmakers to produce the "sharp gothic" design and the spring driven movement in a Connecticut shelf clock and this clock is an example of the first spring driven Connecticut shelf clock, Serviced by professional clockmaker and guaranteed.
