Antique 19th Century Watercolor of West Point, N.Y., after George Cook
A superb watercolor drawing of "West Point" looking from above Washington Valley. American Artist George Cooke painted the scene that was then engraved by William James Bennett. The watercolor is unsigned but is the identical scene of the rare and important engraving. The watercolor has not been examined out of the frame. There is no visible damage. The painting is matted with an eglomise surround on old wavy glass that may be original to the painting. The frame has been partially re-gilded. Sight Size: 15" X 22", Framed Size: 32 1/4" X 25 1/4".
