Original early 20th Century cast iron andirons in the form of sitting cats with green glass eyes that glow when the fire light is behind them, including a very rare set of fire tools with Cat form handles, comprised of a stand, shovel, poker and broom. Several American foundries cast andirons of this type. Some have foundry marks that can be identified. These have marks that we have seen before but that we have not yet identified. Owl fire tools, circa 1900, comprising a stand, shovel, poker, tongs and a stand, each with an owl form handle. The handles are cast iron, the shafts are steel. The stand is 8" in diameter at the base and 28" high. The tools are between 26" & 27" long. The underside of the stand shows a metal label marked "Hart". A rare set of iron and brass Fireplace Tools, early 20th Century, made by the Howes foundry of Boston Ma. which manufactured fine quality fireplace equipment in the 19th and early part of the 20th century. The set comprises a stand, tongs, poker and shovel each with a cast iron handle with a brass finish that is partially worn. The handles are in the form of owls.
